They typically have a slightly flat face (less extreme than a purebred Pekingese), large expressive eyes, and a compact body with a plumed tail. Their coat length is medium to long and gives them a plush, cuddly appearance.

Peekapoos can inherit brachycephalic (flat-faced) traits from the Pekingese side, leading to breathing difficulties, snoring, and heat sensitivity. Eye conditions including corneal ulcers and progressive retinal atrophy are possible. Patellar luxation, intervertebral disc disease, and dental overcrowding are also concerns. Avoid strenuous exercise in heat. Regular eye cleaning and veterinary checkups are important.
